VNU LAUNCHES COMPUTERACTIVE UNDER LICENSE IN SOUTH AFRICA AND GREECE

VNU Business Media Europe's licensing and syndication division, Global Publishing Partnerships, has launched Computeractive in South Africa and Greece.

The magazine is published under license through Intelligence Publishing, based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and IT Publications Hellas in Greece.

Ian Bedwell, CEO of VNU GPP, said: "We are very proud to welcome these new partners into the VNU GPP network. It's a great start to a series of new launches we are planning in 2005. We are convinced that the magazine's successful editorial strategy, combined with our partners' in-depth knowledge of their local markets, will quickly lead Computeractive to become a leading computer magazine in these two countries."

Computeractive is one of the leading PC consumer titles worldwide and is already published in the UK, Holland, Spain, Italy, Malaysia and Indonesia with further announcements planned.

Commenting on the South Africa launch, Martyn Samuels, Publisher and Managing Director of Intelligence Publishing said "Computeractive is a unique magazine for this country. No other computer magazine talks to the mainstream user and we are very excited to launch the brand here. The first issue, which appeared in December 2004, has met with superb feedback from readers and advertisers".

Bedwell said: "We believe that Computeractive, with its clear advice and innovative style, comes at just the right time to extend the appeal of computer and digital lifestyle products and services to a broader audience in these dynamic markets."
