VNU launches Computeractive under license in India

VNU Business Media Europe's licensing and syndication division, Global Publishing Partnerships (VNU GPP), is launching Computeractive in India in January 2006.

The magazine is published under license through Next Gen Publishing, based in Mumbai, India, who have also recently launched Car India and Bike India.

Ian Bedwell, CEO of VNU GPP, said: "We are delighted to be launching a new Computeractive, particularly in such an important market, further strengthening this brand across the world. We are equally pleased to be working with a partner who understands this market so well and has such a passion for publishing and we will do everything we can to support them in ensuring that Computeractive quickly becomes a success in India.

Computeractive is a leading PC consumer title in Europe and is already published in the UK, Holland, Spain, Italy, Indonesia, Greece and South Africa. It is the best-selling computer magazine in the UK because it provides essential productivity and buying advice delivered in an entertaining, informative and plain English style.

Commenting on the Indian launch, Hoshang S. Billimoria, CEO of Next Gen Publishing said “We are very happy to launch the UK's best-selling computer magazine in the Indian market. Computeractive will open up an entirely new readership segment in India which until now has not been addressed by publishers".

Bedwell said: "We believe that Computeractive, with its clear advice and innovative style, comes at just the right time to demonstrate the appeal of computer and digital lifestyle products and services to readers in this rapidly-developing market."
