- Joins forces with KnowledgeStorm, Inc. as its global Web lead generation partner -
- Deal marks next chapter in VNU’s ambitious total media strategy -
VNU Business Media Europe today announced plans for the launch of Europe’s first online directory, search and solutions matching service for the B2B IT industry. Following an in-depth review of advanced business solutions for Web lead generation VNU Business Media Europe (VNU BME) has selected KnowledgeStorm, the Internet’s top-ranked search resource for technology solutions and information, and its proven technology platform to build and deliver the most advanced lead generation solution in Europe. The new service will provide vendors and VNU BME’s partners with unparalleled access to, and Web leads from, European B2B IT buyers.
Initially, the service, KnowledgeStorm UK, will target the four million users per month of VNU’s 20 on and offline brands in the UK including The Inquirer, Newsgator, vnunet.com as well as long-established media brands including Computing, IT Week and CRN. This announcement builds on VNU BME’s unrivalled knowledge of European IT Buyers. At the same time as the UK launch, VNU BME is launching KnowledgeStorm France, based on VNU BME’s recent acquisition of Silicon.fr. It is VNU BME’s intention to rapidly deploy the service to its other European territories over the next 12 months, giving access currently to more than 10 million unique users per month.
“This new lead generation service cements our role in the IT buying chain to provide an indispensable connection between B2B buyers and vendors by improving the accuracy of information and speed of decision making. Once again, we have listened to the needs of our customers and are providing, through this service, a more sophisticated and effective means of reaching potential IT B2B buyers, and the elusive Long Tail,” said Ruud Bakker, CEO of VNU Business Media Europe.
“Our new alliance with VNU BME solidifies our relationship with one of the foremost publishers and providers of high-value business content on the Web,” says Kelly Gay, CEO and president of KnowledgeStorm. “The strength of this partnership is in our combined ability to better address the needs of European business and IT professionals searching for technology information."
“VNU BME publications have mass brand appeal in the European technology marketplace, and KnowledgeStorm is the go-to brand for solutions and information in the technology community” says Gay. “Together, our long-term strategy is to create the most comprehensive, integrated online research and product libraries for business and IT professionals. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to work with VNU BME on this new endeavour to better serve technology buyers in Europe.”
VNU’s four million monthly information users in the UK are increasingly looking for an interactive experience. This demanding audience, dubbed Audience 2.0, consumes media across multiple channels, is discerning in its choice of provider, and expects rapid fulfilment. VNU’s total media strategy meets the needs of this growing audience and the advertisers who seek to reach and influence them.
The new service also draws on VNU’s 35 years experience publishing Buyers Guides and Directories, as well as its innovative web seminar programme and successful direct marketing services. Other key features will include product demos, case studies and whitepapers along with access to the publishing assets of VNU’s leading technology brands.
VNU BME CEO Ruud Bakker added: “We are confident that integrating VNU’s audiences, brands and expertise with our content and delivery engine, we will provide the market with a service that has huge appeal and value. Coupled with our recent acquisitions of leading European online properties, this underscores our progress in transforming Business Media Europe into not just a cross media publisher, but a total media provider, bringing new business opportunities to our customers.”
Research has established that 93 percent of all technology purchasing decisions begin with an Internet search (Source: Search Engine Guide June 2005). Professional IT buyers will use VNU BME’s new service to carry out initial desk research and then seamlessly move to identifying solutions that best match their business needs, with the confidence they are querying the most comprehensive information resource available in Europe.
Note to Editors:
Long Tail. The phrase The Long Tail was first coined by Chris Anderson in a 2004 article in Wired magazine. It describes a shift from mass markets to niche markets, as electronic commerce aggregates and makes profitable what were previously unprofitable transactions. Long Tail business can treat consumers as individuals offering mass customisation as an alternative to mass market products (Source: Wikipedia).
Audience 2.0 is about building a deep relationship and understanding of the consumers of Web 2.0 content, through the total interaction in real time that is now possible. This enables the complete engagement of audiences with business, and distinguishes VNU as the first true Total Media publisher.
Total Media is an approach to media pioneered by VNU that uses every possible platform as a complete means of distributing and sharing information and knowledge with Audience 2.0.
